Pumps for a Purpose

            We carry pumps from the following companies: Aquarium Pharmaceuticals (Rena), Beckett, Calvert Engineering (Cal), Fluidart, Hozelock-Cyprio, and OASE. The important factor when purchasing a pump is matching the correct pump to the purpose it will be used for. It would be totally inappropriate to use a small mag-drive pump to bring water to a pressurized bead filter or to use a "dirty water" pump with a fountainhead. We have "direct" drive or "mag" drive - fountain pumps, "dirty water" filter pumps, and waterfall pumps available in a variety of sizes and styles so that we can be sure to have the right pump for your purpose.

Figuring for Filtration

            Filtration is one area that brings about a lot of confusion and controversy to the water garden industry. Which filter will provide the water quality your customers require, with a tolerable level of maintenance and at a reasonable price?? We are here to help you to figure out which filtering option is best suited for an individual pond. Why use a pressurized bead filter versus a foam pre-filter, or what's the difference between biological, chemical, and mechanical filtration. There are several different style skimmers available to keep the surface of the water clean and help to minimize the debris settling to the bottom of the pond. Perhaps you wish to figure on a "natural" approach and need a wetland filter - we have several options to offer there. Finally, if you have already figured out what you want or need for filtration we feel that we have something that will meet those requirements.

Accents for Accessorizing

            Accessorizing the pond is what gives it that finished, inviting look. Finding the right item to accentuate an area of a pond will help to draw the focus where you want. A fountain from Brass Baron will create both a visual and auditory focal point. Expand the view of a small pond by using a waterwheel off to the side with a stream meandering to the pond. Connect the landscape on either side of a stream with a bridge. Do you need to hide the filter or electrical outlets? Perhaps you might try an artificial stone from Createk with a weeping Japanese Maple hanging over it. Then add in some bamboo fencing and some ornamental granite to give the area an oriental look. - We have them all
